About Us

Writing School Leicester is a specialist creative writing school taught by practicing writers and journalists.  At our Leicester base, we deliver short, part-time writing and journalism courses of proven quality that lay clear emphasis on meeting the needs of the writing industries.

We also facilitate creative writing projects, and we welcome requests to tailor-make courses to meet the specific demands of organisations and businesses in the East Midlands and beyond.

Backed by over 50 years experience of teaching writing in adult education in Leicester, we set up in 2006 as a not-for-profit creative business and began trading as a limited company.

Writing School Leicester welcomes secret scribblers, developing writers, and emerging professionals.  Join us at any point in your development.  You will be encouraged and helped to put together your own personal programme from our selection.

In our first two years as a creative business, we have worked with a range of partners and funders including Arts Council England, Arts Training Central, BBC Leicester, Black History Season, Creative Leicestershire, East Midlands Literature Network, Leicester Adult Education College, Leicester City Council, Leicester City Libraries, Leicester Comedy Festival, Lincolnshire County Council, Northamptonshire County Council, Soft Touch Arts, Voluntary Action Leicester.
