A grant has been announced by Heritage Lottery Fund to support a new project based around collecting memories and old photographs from Jewish people who lived in Leicester or Leicestershire in the 1940s and 1950s.

A series of workshops, led by skilled and experienced facilitators including writing school tutors, a London-based Jewish writer and a photographer, will support group members in gathering together their memories and pictures.  Groups and individuals will be helped to create a high quality illustrated book, a website and touring display.

There will also be opportunities for oral history recording, and a means of including contributors who have moved away from Leicester.

This exciting project will be managed by Writing School Leicester partnering with local Jewish communities.  For details or to take part email r.adam@writingschoolleicester.co.uk or val.moore@writingschoolleicester.co.uk tel 0116 233 4343 extn 227.

This project relates to the priorities of the Your Heritage grants programme - conservation, participation in heritage activities and opportunities to learn about heritage
