| Writers’ Manuscript Clinics |

These manuscript-in-progress workshops are ideal for students who have started a piece of writing and wish to take it further. Members share their work with the group and the tutor, then offer and receive peer feedback in a friendly, supportive environment. Sessions have a clear practical focus on bringing work up to fully professional standards, and are packed with useful tips and advice.
Bookings can be taken for any combination of sessions, charged at £12 each and paid in advance. Please indicate clearly on the form on page 12 under ‘Additional Notes’ which dates you wish to book. Once booked, these cannot normally be changed.
There is a discounted fee for students who book all sessions in any one term, and this may be booked either online or by cheque or cash using the form in this on the website. |

We will study magazines, their readerships and the themes and topics they address. By analysing the letters pages, we will discover what makes a good letter and through writing exercises, students will begin to find confidence in their own voice. There will be pointers as to where to unearth fresh material and students will be encouraged to send letters off. |

People in the UK buy over 2 million greetings cards every year. Publishers need to fill this demand and are always looking for new writers. This workshop will use exercises and brainstorming sessions to produce greetings card texts ranging from the sentimental to the risqué. Handouts will be available showing how to present work for sale and how to find and approach publishers. |

A workshop designed to introduce new writers to Flash Fiction – short stories coming in under 1000 words. We will explore the origins of Flash Fiction, its various guises, and how it spans both mainstream and fantasy, science fiction and horror. This course is about honing your craft as a storyteller: how to inject the thrill into your action scenes, create three-dimensional characters, write crisp, believable dialogue, and edit your work, ready for submission to recommended markets.
